CHEA PENG, Cambodia, Pottery
Chea Peng’s family fled the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia in 1980 when Chea was three years old. He started sculpting and making pottery in high school and continued his studies at RIT.
He produces functional pottery - plates, bowls, vases- which he sells locally. He is presently the Studio Manager at Genesee Pottery, Genesee Center for the Arts and Education and also teaches pottery classes.
He recently went back to Cambodia for the first time and came home with patterns and motifs that he plans to incorporate into his pottery.
Chea’s next show begins on Friday, June 6th at Genesee Pottery.
